About Us

Who We Are

CDFIN is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening children, families, and communities by integrating trauma-responsive care with comprehensive mental health support. We address the effects of trauma, adversity, and chronic stress while also responding to the broader psychological, relational, and social needs that shape well-being across the lifespan.

Our Mission

To prevent abuse and neglect and advance healing and resilience across the lifespan.

We strengthen families, equip communities, and transform the systems that serve children and adults through collaboration, research-informed practice, and capacity building—ensuring trauma is addressed early, recovery is supported, and cycles of harm are interrupted.

Our Vision

Thriving children, resilient adults, and strong communities—free from abuse, neglect, and the enduring effects of trauma.

What We Do

Trauma can disrupt emotional regulation, attachment, identity, and a sense of safety in the world. When left unaddressed, its impact often extends beyond individuals into families, organizations, and communities. CDFIN works to reduce the long-term effects of trauma through healing approaches that are relational, developmentally informed, and grounded in emotional and physical safety.

At the same time, we recognize that many individuals and families seek mental health support for concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, relational conflict, and life transitions, which may or may not be rooted in traumatic experiences. Our work intentionally addresses both—honoring their intersection while respecting their distinct needs.

How We Work

At the core of CDFIN’s approach is the belief that healing and mental well-being develop within consistent, supportive relationships and stable environments. Children and adults thrive when caregivers, mental health professionals, educators, and community systems are equipped to respond with attunement, clarity, and compassion.

Our work integrates trauma-responsive practice, mental health frameworks, attachment theory, developmental science, and relational care into practical, real-world applications. We bridge research, clinical insight, and community-based practice to translate complex knowledge into accessible tools that can be adapted across diverse cultural, organizational, and geographic contexts.
